"That is Chikku in Noel's lap, Eric, Niya and Elena cuddled together"
Sadly Christmas holidays are over, and everyone has gone back home. My second Sil had come on the 25th. It was fun with everyone around. Anyone can imagine how the scenario would be, with four kids, aged between 4 and 13. They won’t stay still at one place. Four pairs of legs, running around, scattering things, talking (read shouting) on top of their voice, fighting for the remote and so on. All this in addition to the “ two legs and two hands” which keeps crawling to every portion of the house. Who BTW now wants to stand up and try to get hold of everything he can reach for. From Shibu’s laptop to the tiny ant on the wall. He would stand up by holding any furniture and then leave his hand, and that would eventually make him fall down, banging his head on the floor. Within this 24-hours he has banged his head a couple of times, dropped the sipper ( with water in it) on his toes, and if that was not enough, got bitten by ants. And to top it all, after coming here, he is not eating well. So we are planning to take him to the Doc tomorrow. Shibu is working from home, for a couple of days. He will leave for Chennai this weekend. There is a couple of weddings and some pending works to be attended. So we would be leaving by next weekend.
Over all, the whole week had been fun. Not to mention, very tiring. Either we would be busy with all the guest dropping in ( most of them unannounced), or else would be traveling to meet relatives who are old and can’t travel. Nine of us, packed in a single car. No one can move a muscle. Fitting in the car would become more difficult after lunch, as everyone weighed a couple of pounds more. By the time we reached home, all of us would be dead tired.
Chikku ( I am compelled to change his name from Chinnu to Chikku, by everyone here. They say that it’s a girly name. So from today he is back to being Chikku) has been the center of attraction throughout. BTW I forgot to mention that he has stopped moving on his stomach now. He would crawl on his hands and knees. And he would also sit by himself, without any support. And since he is trying to stand up now, we got him a walker. He likes being in it for sometime, and then will get irritated, when he realizes that he has lost his freedom of motion. When we first made him sit on the walker, he did not know how to make it move in the direction he wanted to go. And he would always end up going backwards or sideways, banging at the furniture and the cupboards. Now he has become an expert in navigating at his will. So when I am sweeping or cleaning ( our maid deceived us, so while Mil takes care of the kitchen, I am in charge of Chikku and housekeeping) he would follow me, trying to figure out what I am doing.
And now for the best part. We all had been trying to teach Chikku to wave “tata” (like saying bye). He never waves his hand. But I think, he knows that waving the hand and saying tata, means that, that person is going somewhere. He would show an almost sad face, when Shibu says tata, before going to office. After coming here, I tried to teach him to clap. So after a couple of days training, Chikku would clap his hands when I sing a Malayalam song “Kai kottu unni, kai kottu. Appam thinnan kai kottu ”. Which means - clap your hands baby, clap your hands, clap your hands to eat rice ( or milk or biscuit, depending on how much you want to pull the song). Now he has improved little more, he would happily clap along with any song he hears. His favorite being Feliz Navidad, and Jingle Bells. It makes me more happy, because it’s the first thing he ever learnt, and (most important) I taught him. And as a proud mother, I would show him off, by making him clap his hands, when we go visiting. And he looks so adorable, that everyone goes ga-anyone ga over him.
And the other achievement he has pocketed is, he knows where the fan is. When we ask him, he would look up at the ceiling and smile. And unfortunately for us , if the fan is behind him, he would lean backwards to look at the fan, and fall down again. It breaks my heart to see him crying like that.
Well, that's the update on whats happening in our life. Will post in again, when something interesting happens.
Forgot to wish every one (actually it should be anyone who stumbles upon my blog accidentally) a "VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR". Hope you, me and everyone out there has a rocking 2008.

Hi,I saw your comment at Jen's and popped in to meet you. Your baby is so precious, and I am not just saying that. It is so fun to celebrate all the little things he learns. It is a miracle to watch children learn so much! Happy New Year!
